Meet The McAllisters.
Growing up as Lyntacky’s unofficial hippies, the McAllister kids mastered two things fast: loyalty and survival. They band together like pros, recycle like champions, and can whip up an herbal remedy for whatever mysterious rash you’ve picked up.
Love wasn’t part of the plan. Neither was a baby.
Jay wasn’t a genius, but he was close. A man who remembered everything, solved problems others couldn’t, and used to think brains could fix anything. These days, he preferred peace, quiet, and zero complications. But Blue Jay was the complication he never saw coming—confident, beautiful, infuriating, and a girl from his past.
Blue Jay McAllister was having a week. Her designs were stolen, her career circling the drain, and her only comfort came with a corkscrew. Then fate decided to throw in one more twist—Jay Haddon. Once upon a time, she’d called him the least fashionable man alive. Now he was standing there looking like trouble in a suit. And after one amazing night together, she had a brand-new problem.
Lyntacky was like most small towns. It had its interfering locals and families who could trace their roots back hundreds of years. Where Lyntacky stood out from the rest was their love of Square Dancing and the Duke brothers. Both were trouble. Neither had plans for leaving.

I have always enjoyed a Lani Blake romance, but The Moment It All Began might just be my favorite in recent memory. From the very first pages, I was completely invested. I loved these characters and the connection between them felt genuine, layered, and earned. Blue is such a strong heroine, confident in who she is without losing her vulnerability, and I absolutely loved that Jay never felt threatened by her strength. Instead, he admired it, supported it, and matched her energy in all the best ways. The family dynamics were another standout for me. Blue’s family felt warm and authentic, while Jay’s found family added so much heart and depth to the story. Every relationship in this book felt meaningful. This romance had chemistry, emotion, humor, and heart. It was just really, really good. If you’re on the fence about whether to buy this one, consider this your sign: click “buy now.” You won’t regret it.

Blue and Jay grew up as childhood friends, but they’d never been involved or even thought about romance. On one of the worst days in Blue’s life, she sees Jay in a whole different light. He’s in an expensive suit and looks amazing, when she sees him exit the vehicle, while she’s sitting on the bench. She’s surprised to see him. He lives in her hometown of Lyntacky. He takes her box of stuff and tells her where he’ll be if she wants to get it back. She shows up and they eat and drink and they end up in his hotel room. They have an amazing night, but they each don’t expect anything. About three months later, Blue returns to Lyntacky. She doesn’t want to stay with her parents, so Jay offers her a room at his place. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see if these two can have a happily ever after or if they’ll just remain friends. I love this series and all the Duke siblings and their significant others. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

We return to Lyntacky for Jay and Blue's story and it is one that will certainly send you on an emotional rollercoaster. It starts in New York where Blue and Jay reconnect and moves to Lyntacky, a town which has quirky residents that will leave you chuckling as you read about their antics as they help and support Blue and Jay. More is revealed about Jay's childhood and how he became an honorary member of the Duke family. A family that will push him when needed and are not afraid to tell him when he is wrong. As Blue and Jay deal with the situation that they find themselves in, a situation that terrifies them both, we see how the whole of Lyntacky as well as their respective families, come together in their fun and quirky way. I do hope we get to see more of the Dukes, the McAllisters and Lyntacky.
