We're back in loony but lovely Lyntackey for Finch & Nina's story and this story had a different feel about it, due to the characters personal issues, but although Finch's issues, in particular, are heavy, it is not a depressing story, Lyntackey doesn't allow for that.
I was transported to Lyntackey with all their quirky, irascible, no nonsense regulars and few newcomers, with the ever present dancing and added Christmas festivities, and I didn't want to leave.

The Moment He Couldn't Walk Away, is the seventh book in The Duke Brothers series by Lani Black. Finch & Nina have some obstacles to get through to get to their well deserved HEA & I enjoyed every page of their journey. It was fun to go back to Lyntacky & catch up with all the couples from the previous books too. I enjoyed reading Finch McAllister & Nina Winters HEA story. (Thanks for the ARC read opportunity)
Simply the best in the series- I couldn’t put it down. Grumpy Finch is my hero. Nina is my favourite character by far sassy and feisty (usually) so great to finally read her story.
Another great book in Lani’s Duke Brothers series. It was wonderful to read Finch and Nina’s story! These two souls have been through so much. All Finch wanted to do is continue to serve his country until his injury forces a change of plans and sends him home to figure out new life plan.
Meanwhile Nina has been through so much with watching her mom deteriorate from Alzheimer’s until finally losing her and now dealing with major identity change as well.
Two people who are trying to cope with what life has given them. Nina has her friendships to support her vs Finch is forced to move forward by the townspeople who are trying their best to take care of him in the only way they know: interfering.
Neither are in a great spot for a relationship but trying to support each other and meanwhile fighting their attraction. Watching their relationship evolve is heartwarming. The book setting of this small town with it’s quirky members provide so many moments of humor. This is such an entertaining and feel good book! It has the perfect amount of mystery and there’s a perfect amount of spice added in with the hot scenes.
As usual Lani hits all the right notes for the latest couple of this town! Love it!!
The thrill of the chase intensifies the heat of the burn. Nina and Finch break break the heart wide open with a firestorm that shakes up the senses. The Moment He Couldn't Walk Away is romance at it's most intriguing. Blake delivers love with an edge that is hauntingly unforgettable.
The third McAllister sibling did not disappoint!!
Along with looking at different forms of grief - a future you had planned which suddenly ends, the loss of a parents from a slow illness (cue Triggers and ugly tears - so well written!!!) There's also a hint of suspense and danger to keep us on our toes.
And as always, a teaser of the final brother's story to come
Lani has done it again! Both Nina and Finch have experienced big losses. They both want to work it out on their own and in their own time, but the residents of Lantacky see it differently. They are surrounded by the town and all of their interventions. Finch is fighting for his independence. Nina to find out who she really is. Can they rely on each other to find what they’re each looking for? Or will there be trouble along the way? I loved the characters and their relationships. I did not expect the intrigue, that just added depth to the story and of course the HEA! Thanks for another Duke Brother's Story!!
When I began to read The Moment He Couldn’t Walk Away, I expected a quirky, funny trip back to wacky Lyntacky with all the colorful characters I’ve come to know and love. Instead I was swept in a heart wrenching story of two damaged souls looking for a way to survive and immediately fell in love with Nina and Finch’s story. It’s quite a departure from the usual romp, but one of Lani’s best. Readers will not be disappointed in this latest Duke adventure.
As always, the town of Lyntacky and its members make this story hilarious, profound and memorable all at the same time. It sucks you in and you feel like you're a part of the community. Nina and Finch are incredible characters with depth and soul. You get immersed in their world and you root for them with all your heart. This book is intriguing, suspenseful and heartwarming. I highly recommend you read this thoughtful and beautiful love story.
I really enjoyed the book. It was a wonderfully written story, and I was engaged from the very first chapter. It was deeply emotional at times in the best way, and it was great to read about the characters in the town Lyntacky. It was such a great read.
